The Balasan Initiative for Human Rights (BIHR) invites qualified researchers to apply for a short-term consultancy focused on producing an in-depth advocacy report on recent Israeli annexation measures in the Bethlehem Governorate. This report will serve as a key advocacy tool to support UN submissions, inform stakeholders, and promote international engagement in the protection of Palestinian rights and presence.
Position Title: Researcher/Consultant
Location: Remote (with field visits to Bethlehem Governorate, as needed)
Project Title: Advocacy for Endangered Areas in the Bethlehem Governorate
Duration: 5 weeks
Start Date: 15 June 2025

Scope of Work:
The selected consultant will:

Conduct desk research and field visits to gather primary data and testimonies.

Analyze annexation trends and their impacts on affected Palestinian communities.

Apply legal and policy frameworks in line with international law.

Draft a comprehensive advocacy report in coordination with BIHR’s Director.
Key Qualifications:

Advanced degree in International Law, Human Rights, Middle East Studies, or a related field.

Proven experience in human rights documentation and policy advocacy.

Strong understanding of the Palestinian context and relevant international legal standards.

Excellent research and writing skills in English; Arabic language proficiency is an asset.
