The Balasan Initiative for Human Rights – Palestine, held a four-day training program titled “Enhancing the Capacity of Human Rights Defenders in Palestine” for 13 young Palestinians which took place from June 23 to 26, 2024 in Bethlehem.
The Palestinian youth trainees, all of whom are university students, were convened to explore the key concepts of human rights and advocacy, as well as the effectiveness of human rights advocacy and its strategies to empower them to create their desired changes in their causes and communities through initiatives and campaigns. The training sought to increase the youth knowledge and sharpen the skills needed to become effective advocates for human rights in their communities.
The training, which was held in partnership with the Heinrich Boll Stiftung – Palestine and Jordan, provided a comprehensive analysis of advocacy campaigns. The interactive sessions fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences among the young participants, and their engagement in practical group exercises and simulations.
By equipping young Palestinians with the tools for effective advocacy, the Balasan Initiative empowers them to become agents of positive change in their communities.
